John Bunyan, author of Pilgrim's Progress, was born near here in 1628. Woburn Safari Park and Woburn Abbey are just a few minutes drive away. With a population of 149,000, the town is the second largest town in the county behind Luton. Situated some fifty miles north of London on the beautiful banks of the River Great Ouse, this is an ideal location with plenty to offer all walks of life. The Borough covers 120 acres in size, and includes the County Town, the urban area of Kempston and 43 rural villages. Since being awarded Charter status in 1166, the Borough of Bedford has grown rapidly to the town that exists today. With a population of just under 140,000 people, it is said to be one of the most cosmopolitan boroughs in the UK. Bedford's roots as a Market Town are still strong with a diverse range of growing business's. Maybe this is linked to the towns traditionally high standards in education in the town. It's not all work though, and the surrounding area offers a diverse range of entertainment and leisure activities for all age groups. The River Great Ouse is a central and attractive feature of the town.

What we do know is that Bedford - the County Town of Bedfordshire - is conveniently located between Cambridge, Milton Keynes, Northampton, and less than an hour from the Capital.
Situated some 50 miles north of London, the town is well positioned between the M1 motorway to the west and the A1 to the east. The north-south A6 runs through the town and is linked to the A421 by the Southern Bypass. London-Luton Airport is within convenient reach and there are direct rail services to Luton and Gatwick Airports. Other airports accessible by car include Stansted (60 minutes), Heathrow, Birmingham and East Midlands (all 90 minutes).
